Volvo still seems to have faith in sedans as the S90 and smaller S60 show no signs of discontinuation. The S60 is kind of a four-door Polestar 1 (with an internal combustion engine), which is a good thing. Although BMW and Lexus are slightly taking sales of the sedan, buyers are still attracted.

Pros

- Nice Exterior Design

The S60 features the premium brand's current design language, and we're not complaining. From the sharp headlights to the sporty silhouette, this sedan is definitely one of the best-looking sedans on the market.

- Great Engine

Daily driving is a treat in this sedan, thanks to a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder and standard all-wheel-drive. It is also fun to start up after a red light because of its surprising 0-60 run of 4.4 seconds.

- Luxurious Interior

The Volvo's interior is comparable to Audi (the king of interiors) with the beautiful colors, nice Nappa leather, genuine wood trim, and large-but-not-too-large infotainment setup. Sound is amazingly kept to a minimum almost anywhere you go, and headroom, legroom and trunk space is abundant.

Cons

- Stiff And Heavy Ride

The Volvo S60 is a heavy car, weighing in at about 4,400 pounds. It also feels uncomfortably big and shakes around too much at corners. A stiff ride also piles on top of the body movement. The Subaru Legacy and Honda Civic offer a lighter ride and less curb weight.

- Digital Controls Not Convenient For Some

As infotainment screens rapidly grow in size, digital controls and menus become more common. But, that doesn't mean they're not new. Most drivers are rather new to digital menus and have to take the time to learn what everything does. The Hyundai Sonata and Acura TLX use physical controls to navigate the screens.

- Below-Average Reliability

Volvos used to be the most reliable cars on the planet, but thy've gone seriously downhill on that category. While Honda, Kia, Hyundai and Acura receive excellent reliability ratings, the Volvo S60 gets a horrible 2.5 out of 10 rating. But, safety is a full 10/10.

- Is It Worth Buying?

We have mixed feelings about the S60. We think that the roomy interior and trunk, plus the amazing safety rating. Buyers looking for luxury on a budget will love the pure-Swedish styling inside and out, as well as the quiet ride. But, due to bad reliability ratings, we recommend leasing this sedan rather than buying. If this isn't the car for you, try the Acura TLX, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes CLA, Hyundai Sonata, or Kia K5.
