The Hyundai Sonata was recently redesigned with the brand's latest in tech and styling. It is now on sale and entering a new model year, so buyers should know what is good and bad about Hyundai's new midsize sedan.

Pros

- Great Interior

The Sonata has a nice, cozy interior with comfortable heated and ventilated seating in the front, and the rear is just as fitting. The infotainment system sits atop the dashboard and is tilted towards the driver for easier access and a decreased angle of looking away from the road ahead. Hyundai also added leather accents all around.

- The N-Line Version

Hyundai offers something in the Sonata that most competitors don't have. That is a performance variant. Nissan, Volkswagen, and Honda don't do that. The N-Line's 2.5 liter turbocharged four-cylinder with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic packs decent performance, and the design touches go right along with it.

- It Stands Out

The Hyundai Sonata used to be boring, but it has made a bold statement for 2020. The headlights, roofline, taillights, and grille all look great. Hyundai's midsize sedan out-styles Toyota, Nissan, Chevy, and Honda by far.

Cons

- Styling Can Be Polarizing

While the Sonata is a great-looking vehicle, not everybody wants such a stand-out car. We already know that there aren't many fans of the headlights that integrate into the window trim. Also, not everyone enjoys fake vents.

- Self-Park Feature Was Just Recalled

The Hyundai Sonata debuted many brand-first tech features, such as the Tesla-rivaling self-park feature that parks automatically for drivers. This was recently recalled, which is not a good sign. It is only available on the high-end Limited trim for now, so buyers might want to go for the lower trim levels.

- No AWD

All wheel drive is a must for some buyers, but the Sonata still doesn't offer it. If you don't care for FWD, then it would be better to turn to the Toyota Camry AWD, Subaru Legacy, or Dodge Charger.

Verdict

The Hyundai Sonata is a good-looking sedan. But, it can be too good for some. Also, it doesn't have AWD. For those who want some extra performance, the N-Line is perfect. So, if you want your car to attract some attention, this is the car for you.
