Ever since the legendary Ford Bronco made its return, Jeep has been spewing out different Wrangler variants, such as the V8, 4xe, and more. Now, the real question must be answered: which off-roader is better? Looks like we're about to find out.
Style
Wrangler
The Wrangler features iconic Jeep-like styling with its rounded headlights and vertical 7 piece linear grille. The plastic fenders, removable parts, rugged lines and squared taillights also give an easy-to-distinguish appearance.
Bronco
The new Bronco also has iconic exterior styling with its round-ish headlights and 'BRONCO' nameplate spanning across the familiar grille. It too has plastic fenders all around the SUV. It has a less boxy shape than the Wrangler as well. The vertical taillights are similar to the original model.
Winner: Ford Bronco
The Bronco's smoother lines give it a newer, more attractive appearance, and the unique design cues pay tribute to the original Bronco.
Performance & Handling
Wrangler
The Wrangler gives you three engine options: a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder, a 3.0 liter V6 diesel, and a 3.6 liter V6. It drives on 4wd and has either a 6 speed manual or 8 speed automatic transmission.
Bronco
The Bronco's engines include a 2.3 liter 4-cylinder and a 2.7 liter V6. It has all wheel drive and a 7 speed manual transmission. An automatic 10 speed is also available.
Winner: Tie
Although Jeep offers more powerful engines, Ford has better transmission.
Infotainment
Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler has FCA's amazing Uconnect software in a stylish 7" screen that ditches all the buttons and knobs. Lower trim levels, however, do feature some switches and buttons with the 5 inch.
Bronco
The Bronco features Ford's latest, greatest SYNC-4 infotainment system. It measures in a 12 inches. Lower trims feature a smaller 8 inch that leaves room for buttons, knobs, and more.
Winner: Ford Bronco
The Bronco features bigger screen sizes and more advanced features. The base trim screens are bigger than the high-end Jeep's screen.
Capability
Wrangler
The Wrangler features removable doors and roof, and after so many easy years, it has developed many advanced off-roading capabilities. All wheel drive helps, too.
Bronco
The Bronco has removable doors as well as a removable roof, and the all wheel drive layout, several helpful features, and the smart design allow it to get across any surface.
Winner: Ford Bronco
It can crawl across any terrain with several G.O.A.T modes? Forget it. The Bronco allows drivers to go absolutely anywhere.
Interior
Wrangler
The Wrangler's 7 inch screen fits perfectly with the color scheme, but some colors are a bit much. But, it is fun with the removable parts.
Bronco
The interior feels special with the leather seats, premium colors and materials, and large, smart SYNC-4 12" touchscreen. You'll feel excited every time you enter the vehicle.
Winner: Ford Bronco
The interior is just a bit more quality than the Jeep, with the bigger screen, cool features, special, adventurous look and more. The important thing is that even with the roof and doors off, you won't lose visibility.
Reliability
Wrangler
The Wrangler's legendary history, performance and capability make it a well-known vehicle. But, it was on the list of the least reliable vehicles of 2019.
Bronco
N/A (It's not on sale yet, so we can't rate it on this category)
Winner: Jeep Wrangler
We had to give this to Jeep despite the bad ratings; it would be unfair to give the credit to a car that nobody owns yet.
Price
Wrangler
The base model starts at $28,295
Bronco
The base model starts at $29,995 (two-door)
Winner: Jeep Wrangler
The Wrangler is a thousand dollars less than the Bronco, making it more affordable. The Bronco 2dr starts at almost 30K, so the 4dr (which we expect to be more popular) costs even more. The Wrangler's lower price will attract buyers on a budget.
